Zoom and Atelier Class

General Information

PROGRAM AND POLICY

This is an on-going class for students at all levels

CURRICULA:  After nearly 40 years of teaching in the tradition of the old masters, I have developed a system so that students will learn their methods and techniques...how to achieve accurate drawings, values, and color in effective compositions. With an emphasis on drawing as the basis of all realistic painting, this may include copying old master paintings, painting still lifes, and working from original landscape photos.  Also covered will be archival framing, canvas preparation, and varnishing. This is an on-going class with individual instruction and all students work at their own pace.

TIME:  Thursday mornings, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. EDT

CANCELLATION:  On a rare occasion, I may have to cancel a class. If so, the cost will be adjusted the following month. I will notify you in a timely manner by email if this should occur.

PHONE ringers and barking dogs must be silenced during class.

COST:  Enrollment is by the month with full payment due the first Thursday of the month. The cost depends on how many Thursdays in a month. Class policy: no credit for missed classes.

TESTIMONIALS

"I joined Barbara's Zoom class a few months ago.  I had been looking for a more direct, hands-on approach to learning - and in lieu of being able to attend Barbara's classes in person - this has proven to be a really good fit.  Meeting on a weekly basis has been invaluable for consistency in learning and application of the skills learned. The interactive class with Barbara, the other students (both on Zoom, and those attending in person) provides so much learning.  Barbara is a gifted artist as well as a great instructor. She is very generous with  her knowledge and time, honest in her critiques, and gives individual attention to each student that allows them to grow as an artist. It has been a great experience to be part of this class." Teri P.

"Barbara's Zoom class is a wonderful opportunity for people living outside of her area to glean from her illustrious career the skills, tips, and methods of painting, many of which may be new even to a more experienced student.

Barbara provides a comfortable space to create, and an exciting environment for people to share and learn about art together. This allows camaraderie among others of all skill levels, and for being a part of an artistic community.

Barbara is kind in her constructive critique, and understands the level that each person is at, providing a personalized opportunity for growth.” Catherine C.

"I highly recommend this Zoom class. Barbara is an amazing teacher! She has won numerous national and international awards for her oil paintings. I have learned so much from her and she shares her vast knowledge with her class. I wasn’t sure whether I would enjoy an online class; however, you get the benefit of hearing her critiques, suggestions and advice she gives to other class members. With an online class you don’t have to drive and carry your supplies to class. You learn in the comfort of your home."  Susan S.
